The T-Shirt / Memory Quilt Process
Getting your shirts to Quilted Memories. Sounds simple. But, you have several options. If you are in the area, you are invited to come to the studio, just make an appointment and come on by. If you are not in the area, or just don't have time, no worries, just ship them to us.
Order Processing. We double check that you have included the important information ( email or online order preferred) with your order: a deposit can be made via e-transfer, personal cheque, cash in person or via the website and that the number of shirts indicated on what you sent*. We put your t-shirts in its own project box, where the contents are isolated during the entire process of completing your quilt. Your t-shirt quilt is now in queue.
Prepping the shirts. Next, we prep the shirts and cut all the fabrics to complete your quilt. Everything is put back into the project box until it is ready to be sewn.
Additional Charges: At this point, we will let you know if any additional charges are required for combining t-shirts together or any other repair charges that are required.
Combines - There is an extra $10.00 charge per block for 'simple' additional seams. A 'Simple seam' is one additional seam in the block. These include:
- combining of 2 shirts (or a front and back) to make one block
- combining small logos from different T-shirts to make one block
- adding fabric behind v-neck (such as a Football Jersey)
- Memory and Hockey Jersey quilt inclusive with the price.
Layout and Sewing. At this point, unless you have indicated a preferred layout, we lay out the shirts in a pleasing manner and audition any fabric required for sashing, accent corners and borders (if not previously selected). We send you a photo of the layout for your approval before sewing begins, creating the 'top'. The the top is done, it is put into the queue to be machine quilted.
Quilting. Your quilt is professionally machine quilted on a longarm machine. We use the latest computerized technology to give your quilt a consistent all-over design.
Finishing. Binding is the final step in completing your one-of-a-kind quilt. Binding encloses all the raw edges of the quilt and gives the quilt a professional finish.
Coming Home. You always have the option of picking up your quilt, or we can ship it back to you. Generally, we use Canada Post expedited parcel and you will be sent a tracking number via email when we create the shipping label.
